Then, I moved to Vietnam, where my parents live. There, I spent three years learning about writing and interviewing at a magazine company, experiencing various aspects of Vietnamese life.
I met with the ambassadors and consuls, representing Korea, and had tough conversations with factory managers who had built factories in remote areas of Vietnam. I also interviewed endlessly youthful mothers. I had the opportunity to meet many people, regardless of their titles or positions, and learned about life in the process.
Through these experiences, I saw the potential of Vietnam.
Thanks to the support of the magazine’s president and chairman, who gave me the opportunity to apply my beauty knowledge in a practical way, I wrote articles for the beauty column, "Marie’s Beauty Story," for about four years under my English name.
In the beginning, I struggled to figure out what kind of articles to write and how to approach them. However, I realized that to truly understand, I had to step into the beauty market and gain firsthand experience.
As I prepared my articles, I examined the beauty market in Vietnam, using the knowledge I had acquired, and worked to express and communicate it to readers in my own words. I also had to study editing and design (visual elements) to effectively convey my message. I read and analyzed countless magazines, searching for inspiration, but still, I felt an unquenchable thirst for more.
Then, one day, I received an email from a reader who expressed their support and gratitude, inviting me to a meal as a fan. It was a moment when I felt that my heartfelt message had been received.
Through all these experiences, I was able to find my own path.
