OVAL
It’s round but slightly different
— more like an oval (3)
Just as the kingdom of God is like a sower who scatters seed, I found myself unexpectedly planted in Vietnam — a place and direction I had not anticipated.
The seed does not know where it will fall, but the sower knows exactly where and why it must be planted.
In this new land of Vietnam,
In Vietnam — that new and unfamiliar land — I had the opportunity to join a magazine company where I could apply the knowledge I gained from studying journalism and broadcasting in Korea.
Over the course of four years, I interviewed a wide range of people: Korean ambassadors and consuls stationed in Ho Chi Minh City, factory directors who built successful businesses from scratch in remote areas of Vietnam, and, at times, gentle and warm-hearted mothers who shared their stories with me.
No matter the topic, I always aimed to write in the best way possible — whether to promote a person or to help elevate a brand.
It was a chance to meet many people regardless of rank or title, and an opportunity to see the vast potential and diverse faces of Vietnam.
And there, I truly learned about 'life'.
Thankfully, the magazine company gave me an incredible opportunity to combine my backgrounds in beauty and journalism by launching a beauty column titled “Marie’s Beauty Story” — under my English name — right when I joined.
This was a special feature that had never existed before in the magazine, and I worked hard to create articles worthy of the magazine’s reputation.
At first, I struggled with what topics to cover and how to approach the writing.
With a sincere desire to provide content that all residents in Vietnam — especially Vietnamese people — would find interesting and useful, I spent every weekend exploring local markets firsthand, knowing that true understanding only comes through experience.
I carefully examined standout products one by one and took detailed notes. To communicate the knowledge and current trends effectively to readers, I also studied editorial design and visual elements.

I read, analyzed, and researched countless magazines to create better content,
yet a certain thirst for knowledge and excellence remained unquenched.
One day, just as I was feeling worn out, a reader sent a heartfelt email to my personal inbox, expressing appreciation as a fan and inviting me to a meal as thanks.
Perhaps it was because my genuine intentions had reached them — I felt only deep gratitude.
That precious memory, combined with all my experiences,
led me to a realization one day:
I wanted to walk my own unique path.
